We want to share with you what we have known for generations, scenic beauty, great views and coming soon, Arkansas' newest State Park Lodge. Because our history is closely tied to the mountain, our families have been making outings to the park for generations. After all, it's right in our own backyard and we've opened our gates to you.
Garvin Green, Historian and Author of many books about Mt. Magazine, signs the latest release of his book "Mt. Magazine" which was edited and updated by Magazine Park Interpreter Don Simons (back) at the 2005 Mountain Memories Day on Mt. Magazine Over the years, our side of the mountain has remained a secret. But we want you to know that, Havana Arkansas, only 9 Miles from the Magazine Visitors Center, is your last stop south of the mountain before your trip to the highest point in Arkansas. The Southern head of the Mt. Magazine Scenic Byway (State Hwy 309) begins in Havana off of State Highway 10. We consider Havana the "True Gateway to Mt. Magazine". Belleville Arkansas is only 14 miles from the top and Danville is 19 miles. Whether it be batteries for the camera, or supplies for the picnic lunch, our communities have the restaurant, fuel, grocery and supply stops you'll need for your next visit to Mt. Magazine. Don't forget to stop on your way home and let us know about your day.
2005 Butterfly Garden Tour, Butterfly Festival, Mt. Magazine State Park The Danville-Belleville Municipal Airport is the closest and longest airstrip to the proposed new lodge facilities. State Highway 10 from Little Rock to Havana was recently part of a major highway improvement program that included resurfacing and widening. Scenic Highway 7, Arkansas, most scenic byway intersects Highway 10 in Ola (Yell County), from there, head West 30 miles through Danville, then Belleville and finally Havana and your next stop is the top of Arkansas, Mt. Magazine.
