Industry & Infrastructure

Real Estate:

Land is available for small and medium size industrial development. The city is well equipped to handle water, electrical and natural gas needs of prospective businesses. Labor force currently available. Housing in the Danville Area is extremely affordable with the average price of a three bedroom home being in the mid $80k range.

Railroad’s:

Danville industry is served by the Little Rock and Western Railway providing service from its terminating point in Danville east to Little Rock. In Little Rock, the Union Pacific Railroad rail road has major locomotive upkeep facilities and access to its major nationwide routes.

Major Highways and Adjacency to Major Highways:

State Highways 27, 10 and 80 all meet in Danville. State Highway 10 is a heavily traveled east/west route between Little Rock and Fort Smith. Highway 10 is currently part of a major statewide highway improvement project that includes resurfacing and widening which was completed Spring 2003. 30 miles north of Danville via state highway 27 is US Interstate 40, a major coast to coast transportation route. 11 miles east of Danville via state highway 10 is Scenic State Highway 7, considered one the nations most scenic. State highway 27 south of Danville is a designated Arkansas scenic highway as is State Highway 309 over Mt. Magazine beginning in in the town of Havana 9 miles west of Danville.

Navigable Waterways:

The McClelland-Kerr Arkansas River navigation project is located 20 miles north of Danville and is served by the Port of Dardanelle.

Airport:

Danville’s airport is a 5,300 foot long, 75 foot wide fully lighted asphalt strip completed and upgraded in the last 10 years. The facility has aviation fuel pumps available 24 hours daily (access requires a local call). Lighting is controlled by standard onboard radio activation device.  Continuing efforts are being made to improve the Airport to meet more diverse aeronautical needs.

Utilities:

Electrical service is provided by Entergy Corporation of Arkansas and natural gas by Reliant Arkla Gas. Water is processed and provided by the City of Danville utilizing a new state of the art, 2 million gallon a day water treatment plant and an existing three million gallon a day plant. The city sewer facilities is currently under renovation and improvements have been steady over the past several years thanks to the passing of a local sales tax to fund such projects. Arkwest Communications, an independent operator based in Danville provides state of the art telephone services for Danville and surrounding communities.  Arkwest also offers state of the art DSL Digital cable television and High Speed DSL Internet for residential and business service. Cellular telephone service is provided by several wireless carriers with towers located in Danville.

Police:

Danville’s Police Department has 6 full time officers who work closely with the Yell County Sheriff’s Department which is also headquartered in Danville. The Yell County Juvenile Detention Center is located in Danville and is administered by the County Sheriff’s Office

Fire:

Danville’s Volunteer Fire Department recently received a Class 5 ISO rating. The city recently purchased a new truck.

Emergency Medical:

Danville is the home of Yell County’s Emergency Medical Services. The EMS facilities are the sight of a new Helipad for air ambulance service from Little Rock’s major medical facilities including Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Chambers Memorial Hospital is located in Danville and has completed several major improvement and addition projects over the past 10 years. Improvements include a new clinic, emergency ambulance bays and emergency admitting facilities, and a new board room and cafeteria.
